In the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Friday, MLAs expressed their anger against the internet media and a news portal and told the Speaker that action should be taken against these agents who work for money. Remove Advertisement Read Only News The Deputy Chief Minister, while requesting the Speaker to remove some memes and roles of his Minister of Social Welfare Sakina Ittu, which are viral on the internet media, said that the way memes are made by making videos of members in the House, it is not only a violation of privacy but also the dignity of this House. He said that it is my sister and the scrolls made are offensive. As soon as the House proceedings started this morning, national conference MLA Javed Mirchal drew the attention of the Speaker and said that a news portal had made a video of him viral on the internet media to defame him, action should be taken against it. He said yesterday when I opened Facebook for a few seconds to ask a question about the doctors here, a news portal spread a video of that moment on the internet media. I looked at the message sent from my neighborhood so that I could properly report the matter here. The manner in which the said news portal disclosed this caused me mental pain. Due to this online harassment, he could not sleep the whole night. Action must be taken against these agents who work for money. Supporting him, National Conference MP Nazir Gureji said that Javed Mirchal is looking at the documents related to the proceedings of the House and after this video, the people of his constituency are now accusing him that instead of raising the issues related to his constituency, he is wasting time on Internet media in the Assembly, people think that we are debauchery. He further said that they are bringing a privilege motion against the wrong portal. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary said that Social Welfare Minister Sakina Ittu, who is my sister, who ties Rakhi to me, even if she does not tie Rakhi, is still my sister. Recently, we discussed some issue here in the House and some media person made a video of it, made memes and reels of it and made it viral on the internet media. The way it is highlighted is extremely offensive. We are all respected MPs but I request that those involved in misreporting be banned from covering the proceedings until further orders. Congress MP Nizamuddin Butt stressed the need for the media to maintain decorum and report with discipline, expressing concern over incidents of misreporting. He said I request the Information Director to give strict recognition to media persons because nowadays anyone with a microphone or a phone calls himself a media person. Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather calmed down the agitated members and said that he would take appropriate action in the matter.
