Judge’s considerations refuse to change the name of KGPH Purbaya to Paku Buwono XIV

Jakarta – The request for a name change submitted by Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Harya (KGPH) Puruboyo to Utaa Dalem Ingkang Sinuhun Kanjeng Susuhunan (SISKS) Pakoe Boewono (Paku Buwono) XIV was rejected by the Solo District Court (PN). The reason the application is rejected is because it does not meet the requirements and there is a potential for dispute. Public Relations of the Solo District Court, Aris Gunawan, said the panel of judges decided on Thursday (11/12) not to accept the applicant’s application (declared inadmissible). Apart from that, the judge also charged the Petitioner to pay court costs amounting to IDR 181 thousand. “The essence of the decision in the form of a Decision is to declare that the Petitioner’s petition cannot be accepted,” says Aris as reported by detikJateng, Friday (12/12/2025). The judge also mentioned the potential dispute over the name change. “The basis of his consideration is that the Judge is of the opinion that what the Petitioner is asking for in his petition does not meet the formal requirements regarding a name change and it is also possible that there could be a dispute,” he explained. As previously reported, the Solo District Court rejected the request for a name change filed by KGPH Puruboyo. In this application, KGPH Puruboyo proposed to change the name to Paku Buwono XIV.
