Mumbai, December 14 (IANS). Argentina’s star footballer Lionel Messi reached the country’s financial capital on Sunday afternoon for the third stop of his tour in India. He will reach Cricket Club of India, Brabourne Stadium before going to Wankhede Stadium in the evening. Messi will join world cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday night at an event organized at the Cricket Club of India, which is also likely to be attended by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He is expected to reach the Wankhede Stadium around 5 pm for an exhibition match with Bollywood celebrities. After this, the event will turn into a private fashion show, where Messi will auction off his Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup memorabilia. He will also participate in ‘GOAT Football Clinic’, an initiative of the Maharashtra government, where he will impart football tips to children. After the mayhem in Kolkata, the Mumbai Police made tight security arrangements in the city. Thousands of fans are expected to gather to see Messi. Messi’s GOAT tour started from the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata, where thousands of fans gathered to catch a glimpse of their favorite footballer, but the event turned into a disappointment due to poor management. When the fans couldn’t even catch a glimpse of Messi, they vandalized the stadium. After the big uproar at the Salt Lake Stadium, the main organizer of the event, Shatadru Dutta, was arrested. The arrest comes after an uproar at the venue over steep ticket prices and restricted access to the football icon. After Kolkata, Messi reached Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, where he posed for photographs with fans. Messi reached the Uppal Stadium late in the evening, where he watched the match in the VIP box. During this he met Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. –IANS RSG Share this story Tags
