Pickled chilli is one such crop which has good demand in the market throughout the year. Due to low cost, easy cultivation and long production period, farmers earn up to lakhs of rupees from it. Farmers get daily income from vegetable production, which strengthens their economic condition. Pickled chilli is one such crop from which farmers earn up to lakhs of rupees at low cost. Its demand increases even more in winter. Many farmers in the Barabanki district are now shifting from crops such as paddy and wheat to vegetable farming. While the production of vegetables is fast, its demand in the market also remains constant. For this reason, farmers get a daily source of income. Cultivation of pickled chilli has emerged as a good example of this change. Pickled chillies are in high demand in the market. Pickled chillies are used in pakodas, pickles and many other dishes. This is the reason why its demand always remains in local markets and mandis. Especially in the winter season, the consumption of pickled chillies increases significantly. Due to good demand and better prices, this crop seems to be very profitable for the farmers. Pramod Verma, a farmer from Safipur village in Nawabganj tehsil of Barabanki district, started growing pickled chillies along with other crops. He planted pickled chili crop in about 2 large plots of land. From this farming he gets a profit of Rs 90 thousand to Rs 1 lakh in one crop. His success now also becomes an inspiration for the nearby farmers. More profit at less cost: According to farmer Pramod Verma, the cost per bigha of pickle cultivation is around Rs 15 to 20 thousand. In comparison, the profit is many times higher. The special thing is that once the crop is planted, production continues for 3 to 4 months. Due to this, farmers get regular income. Loamy and sandy soils are considered the most suitable for growing pickled chillies. Its yield is better in soil with good drainage. With the right soil and timely irrigation, the quality of the harvest remains good and better prices are available in the market. Growing pickled chillies is relatively easy. First, a nursery of seeds is prepared. After this, the field is deeply plowed and fertilizer is sprayed. Beds are made throughout the field and mulch is applied to them and plants are planted at appropriate distances. Irrigation is done immediately after the plant is planted. After about two months, the harvest begins to come, which can be picked daily and sold in the market. There is a lot of demand for pickled chillies in the market. Farmer Pramod Verma said, “We have been growing flowers and vegetables for many years. Vegetables are more profitable compared to other crops. There is a lot of demand for pickled chillies in the market. At a low cost, we get good income and once planted, the harvest continues for many months.” The good income from the cultivation of pickled chillies is now attracting other farmers to it. Experts believe that if farmers do vegetable farming by understanding the right technology and market demand, their income can increase significantly.
