Representatives from many Asian countries including India, Nepal, Laos, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Vietnam participated in this conference organized under the auspices of the Association of Buddhist Tour Operators (ABTO). DM in his speech said Nalanda has always been world famous for its ancient identity, intimacy and hospitality. He urged domestic and foreign tour operators to take a closer look at the historical and spiritual heritage of Rajgir, Nalanda and Pawapuri and play their role in connecting it with global tourism. DM Kundan Kumar said that the tradition of “Atithi Devo Bhava” is still alive in Rajgir, the land of equality of all religions. He said that on the special initiative of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, many major tourism development works are being done rapidly in the district like Rajgir Wildlife Zoo Safari, Nature Safari, Laser Show, street lighting and road construction projects. He said that the facilities of tourists are given top priority and their suggestions will be seriously implemented. DM said that Rajgir is not only the preaching place of Lord Buddha but also of Tirthankar Mahavir. Buddha’s ideas of compassion, mercy and brotherhood are still relevant today and offer a spiritual experience to tourists. He said that more than what is visible, the heritage of the district is still hidden under the surface, efforts are being made to mine it safely and bring it to the world. Places like Panch Parvatiya area, Venuvan, Pandu Pokhar are further developed. In the conference, representatives from Nepal, Sri Lanka and other countries raised the problems faced in the online ticketing system of cable car, nature safari and zoo safari. To which the DM ensured a quick solution. He said that the expansion of five-star hotels, four-lane roads and other important facilities was proceeding apace to make Rajgir a global tourism hub. DM extended a special invitation to all the tour operators to participate in the Rajgir Mahotsav organized from December 19 to 21. He said that this festival is a great opportunity to present the culture, history and spirituality of Nalanda to the world. On this occasion, representatives from different countries visited the exhibition stands that had been set up. Many exhibition stalls including Wild Life Zoo Safari Stall, Valmiki Tiger Reserve, Incredible Mountains of Nepal, Dant Dhawan Kund of Ayodhya attracted the attention of tourists. Cultural programs also enthused the atmosphere of the conference. The program was led by dr. Kaulesh Kumar, Secretary of ABTO. The presence of representatives from India and abroad made this event more grand.
