Erdi ensured that the investigation into the case is carried out comprehensively. “Be assured that the National Police remains committed, yes, currently the case has been handled by Polda Metro Jaya, and we assure that investigators remain comprehensive in their investigation process,” said Erdi. “Then we also ensure that we continue to prioritize a sense of justice in this process,” he emphasized. It is known that the National Police conducted an ethics hearing against six members of the National Police Headquarters Yanma unit who were involved in beating up debt collectors or matels in Kalibata, South Jakarta. As a result, two members were dismissed and four others were fined with demotion. Sanctions for dishonorable discharge (PTDH) were imposed on Brigadier IAM and Brigadier AMZ. Both of them are said to be the main culprits in this case. “It has been decided to dishonorably dismiss PTDH as a member of the National Police,” said Erdi. Bripda AMZ, he explained, was the owner of the vehicle intercepted and stopped by the victim. When he was fired, AMZ did not accept it, and then contacted his colleague, IAM, to ask for help. “Bripda AMZ is the owner of a black NMAX vehicle that was intercepted and stopped by debt collectors and Brigadier IAM was then informed,” explains Erdi. On receiving this information, Brigadier IAM then invited four other people to the place sent by AMZ, namely in front of TMP Kalibata. “Then Brigadier IAM received information via the WA Group from Bripda AMZ that he and his motorcycle were being detained by Matel. Brigadier IAM therefore spontaneously invited four other people to the location sent by Bripda AMZ,” he continued. The four people invited by Brigadier IAM were his juniors including Bripda BN, Bripda JLA, Bripda RGW and Bripda IAB. The four immediately followed the senior’s invitation. “(The four) only followed seniors’ invitation and participated in the attack to help Bripda AMZ who was fired by the police,” explains Erdi. The four Yamna members invited by Brigadier IAM sanctioned. Even though the four of them were deemed to have only followed their senior’s invitation. “Administrative sanctions in the form of transfers are demotion for 5 years,” said Erdi. Based on these sanctions, the six offenders appealed against the decision of the hearing commission. (ond/idn)
