His parole petition filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court could not be heard even on Wednesday. Due to the lawyers’ strike, the court postponed the hearing of the petition until December 18. The winter session of Parliament is due to end on 19 December. In such a situation, there is only one day’s time left for Amritpal. Chief Justice Sheel Nagu called the lawyers appearing in the case at least four times, but no lawyer appeared. Arrested under the National Security Act (NSA) since April 2023 and lodged in Assam’s Dibrugarh Jail, MP Amritpal, while presenting his side on December 16, said that the entire work of his parliamentary constituency has come to a standstill due to his continued detention.
