Jakarta – A recidivist specializing in empty house theft with the initials H alias Nano has been arrested again by the police after he broke into a resident’s house in Poris area, Cipondoh, Tangerang. The offender used the proceeds of the theft as capital for buying and selling drugs. “Nano admitted that he carried out his actions as capital for the purchase and sale of crystal methamphetamine,” Kombes Budi Hermanto, head of public relations of Polda Metro Jaya, said in his statement on Saturday (6/12/2025). Budi explained that the perpetrator was a repeat offender in a burglary case. It is recorded that he was in and out of prison three times. Scroll TO CONTINUE CONTENT “The perpetrator broke into the house of (members of) Brimob in 2017 and stole firearms, and was involved in similar theft cases twice in 2021 and 2022,” Budi said. Now Nano has been arrested again after breaking into an empty house in Poris area, Cipondoh, Tangerang on October 16, 2025. Even though he ran away, Nano was successfully arrested in Cengkareng area, West Jakarta on Tuesday (2/12). Budi revealed that the perpetrators target houses whose owners have abandoned them. He entered the victim’s home by climbing the fence and breaking the window. “The perpetrator acted on foot, looking for random targets and targeting uninhabited houses to make his actions easier,” Budi explained. “In the CCTV footage, the offender was seen going in and out of the house by climbing the fence, and then breaking the bars on the windows of the house,” he continued. During the action, the offender managed to steal around 50 grams of gold, cash and mobile phones. The total looted property amounted to IDR 126 million. “In total, the victim’s losses are estimated at IDR 126,000,000,” Budi said. The offender is now detained at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters. As a result of his actions, the offender was charged in terms of section 363 of the Penal Code with aggravated theft with a maximum penalty of 9 years imprisonment. (ond/eva)
