A terrible incident happened in Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh. A 75-year-old man killed his 74-year-old wife by attacking her with an ax and questioning her character. The police arrested the man and began an investigation. The woman’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination. This incident took place in Tharki village in Rajpur police station area. The accused Thibhu Kerketta was earlier a surveyor in the Ambikapur office of the Minerals Department. After retirement he now lived at home. In 2009, a manager from the department accompanied him to Tharki village. Thibhu allegedly saw his wife Maheshwari in a compromising position with the driver. This incident of murder with an ax created deep distrust and tension in the relationship between husband and wife. Even after years, the accused remained adamant on his point and there were frequent fights between them. The same old argument resurfaced late Tuesday night. It is said that around 1 am in the night there was a fight between Thibhu and his wife Maheshwari over the character. The quarrel escalated to such an extent that Thibhu angrily picked up an ax lying nearby and attacked his wife. The ax hit him near his left ear, killing him instantly. His daughter called after the murder. After the accused killed his wife, the accused first called his daughter Anita Tirkey and told her about the incident. Hearing this, Anita told her brother Sunil, who lives with his family about 150 meters from the incident site. As soon as Sunil came home, the accused opened the door. When he turned on the light, he saw his mother lying soaked in blood under the bed. There were blood splatters all around him and a deep ax wound was visible on his head. When the family questioned him, he confessed to the crime. The family immediately notified the police. Rajpur Police Station Commander Bhardwaj Singh and his team reached the spot. The accused was arrested and the body was sent for postmortem. Initial police investigation confirmed that the accused started hating his wife after the 2009 incident.
