Amidst the ongoing tussle regarding the verification of the electoral roll of the elections, all eyes are on the Panchayat elections, the work of revision of the electoral roll is also going on, in which the verification of 5,24,827 possible duplicate voters identified by the Election Commission is being done, which is in the final stage. In the verification done so far, a large number of voters have been found valid. At the same time, 78577 names were removed from the electoral roll. Door-to-door verification of 5,24,837 potential duplicate voters identified by the Election Commission has been done in all 1293 Gram Panchayats, in which the final phase is now almost complete. In the verification done so far, 3,59,102 voters have been found completely valid, while the names of 78,577 voters have been removed from the list due to duplicate. Currently, only 82,270 identified voters are left to be verified in the district. The highest number of remaining voters is from Sandila block, where 13,310 voters are yet to be verified. After this, investigation of 11,911 voters in Kothawan, Bharawan 10,624, Behandar 9,200 and 8,700 voters in Tadiawan is still pending. This number is the lowest in Bilgram, where only 8 voters are yet to be verified, while in Hariyawan only 17 voters have been left under verification. Also in other development blocks there are between one thousand and three thousand such voters who have yet to be confirmed. It is clear from the door-to-door verification done by CAAs and nominated employees in the villages that a large number of voters have been found correct in the marked list of the Commission, thereby clarifying the purpose of revision. Assistant District Election Officer Abhay Kumar said that out of the 5.24 lakh possible duplicate voters identified by the Commission, now only 82,270 are left to verify. Once their investigation is completed, the status of the voters’ list will become completely clear and the objective of providing a clean, error-free list in the upcoming Panchayat elections will be achieved.
