Late on Wednesday evening at the Community Health Center (CHC) in Choraut in the district, a local youth, angry over a demand of Rs 100 for the birth of a daughter, created a ruckus and vandalized the hospital. The hospital’s LED television sets and other equipment were damaged in the commotion and vandalism. Later, on the basis of CCTV footage installed in the hospital, the youth was identified as Chandeshwar Khatve, husband of assistant Bina Devi, resident of Choraut North Panchayat ward no. 5. Police number 112 reached the place after receiving information from the hospital staff, took stock of the situation and conducted an investigation. According to the information received, Chandeshwar Khatve’s wife, assistant Bina Devi, was admitted for delivery where she gave birth to a daughter. After the normal delivery, a hospital employee demanded Rs 100 as ‘shagun’ from Chandeshwar Khatve due to which he got angry and started creating ruckus with abuse. In anger, he broke the LED TV by dropping it from above. Broke the chairs and other equipment below and later ran away from there.
