Strengthening cultural destinations, DKI Jakarta Pavilion participates in Archipelago Dance Parade

Jakarta – The DKI Jakarta Provincial Pavilion participated in the 41st Indonesian Archipelago Dance Parade Competition held at the Sasono Langen Budoyo Building, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). Head of the Pavilion and Tourist Graha Management Unit, Triatin Permanik, said that activities like this can happen regularly and become a magnet for cultural tourism, not only for the people of Jakarta, but also domestic and foreign tourists. “Participating in the Nusantara Regional Parade also strengthens Jakarta’s position as a dynamic, inclusive and world-class cultural tourism destination,” Triatin said in a written statement on Sunday (11/30/2025). PAGE TO CONTINUE CONTENT This participation is a form of commitment by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) to elevate, preserve and promote Betawi art and culture to the wider community. This activity hosts various art studios from all provinces in Indonesia displaying a range of traditional dances and art creations from their respective regions. The participants’ actions combined dance movements, musical accompaniment and costumes typical of regional culture, thus presenting cultural attractions that were rich in color and provided positive energy for TMII visitors. On this occasion, the DKI Jakarta Tourism Pavilion and Graha displayed the charm of Betawi culture as Jakarta’s strong identity. Through the dance parade, artists are encouraged to continue creating and innovating, while inviting the public to love and be proud of Betawi culture as Jakarta’s cultural heritage. On this occasion, Anjungan DKI Jakarta proudly presented a new dance creation entitled ‘Ancestor Rites: Archipelago Wisdom’ with the title ‘Mangkeng Ritus’. This work is inspired by the ritual traditions of the Betawi people in a series of celebrations, which are full of meaning about harmony between people and the universe. Presented in three atmospheres, namely magical, joyful and dynamic. This dance combines typical Betawi mask movements such as beetle and surfing with a touch of urban culture. Supported by professional work of experienced dance, music and costume directors, ‘Ritus Mangkeng’ is presented as a strong, engaging artistic presentation, while visually and emotionally enriching the Betawi dance treasures. This dish proves that Betawi culture can become a cultural tourism magnet and enrich the tourist experience. Cultural events can become one of Jakarta’s leading sustainable tourist attractions. By offering a variety of quality performing arts, Jakarta not only offers physical tourist destinations, but also offers cultural richness that livens up the travel experience.
