Sumatra disaster death toll rises to 940 people, 276 missing

Jakarta – The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has updated data on disaster deaths in Sumatra. The latest data currently shows that 940 people have died. This data is known based on the dashboard website for flood and landslide emergency management in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Sunday (7/12/2025), at 17:00 WIB. There are currently 276 people reported missing. Meanwhile, five thousand people were injured in three provinces. Number of damaged houses: 147 thousand units. Number of districts/cities affected: 52. BNPB recorded that the highest number of deaths was in the Agam region, West Sumatra, with a total of 172 people. North Aceh is also the region with the largest number of refugees at 304 thousand people. The number of victims dead, missing, injured and evacuees may increase as the evacuation process and the clearing of residual material from flash floods and landslides is carried out. Until now, a number of roads in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra are still cut off. The flow of electricity and communication in disaster-stricken areas is also not yet completely normal.
