Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Pratikno confirmed that disaster management and recovery of affected areas in Sumatra is a national priority. This is in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive. “So essentially, the government is working hard and mobilizing all national resources, as the President said, it is a national priority. That is why all KLs also place disaster recovery, especially disasters in Aceh province, North Sumatra province and West Sumatra province as a national priority for all KLs,” Pratikno said in his office, Wednesday (17/12/2025). Scroll TO CONTINUE CONTENT Pratikno guarantees that the government will solve the Sumatran disaster problem as best as possible. According to him, there has so far been significant progress in the recovery of disaster-stricken areas in Sumatra. “Several isolated blood vessels were opened successfully. Thanks to BNPB officials, TNI, Polri, Ministry of Public Works and other ministries,” said Pratikno. “Thank you also for the extraordinary struggle to restore electricity, to provide fuel and LPG for local communities, to provide logistics, the extraordinary struggle in remote areas. So we have transferred progress, significant progress in every region,” he added. Furthermore, Pratikno said that the government is also preparing the construction of temporary housing (huntara) for affected victims. Currently, a team from the Ministry of Housing has checked the locations that will be used to build shelters. “So the shelter is already underway, I have also witnessed the construction of the shelter recently,” he said. Finally, he hopes that the affected communities will remain patient, strong and steadfast to face the ordeal of this disaster. He assured that the government would be with the people. “The government is working hard and needs support from all parties, so that together with the community we can rebuild disaster-stricken areas, not just to recover, but to build better, stronger, safer, more sustainable,” he added.
