The pastor in Tapteng disappears in the flood, children search every day to climb the river

Central Tapanuli – A priest in Hutanabolon Village, Tukka District, Central Tapanuli (Tapteng), named Lea Filanie (59) became one of the victims of flash floods. Lea has been missing for the past 18 days. Reported by detikSumut, Sunday (14/12/2025), Lea’s daughter, Betty Trifena Ritonga, said that the incident where her mother disappeared when she was swept away by a flash flood happened on Tuesday (25/11). At first, Lea and her husband, who is also a pastor, Irawnner Muda Ritonga, had breakfast at home. Betty’s father and mother lived in a special house for the pastor, right next to the GPdI Forestabolon Church. At that time his father heard the sound of wood hitting the church door. Betty said her father immediately jumped out of the house and made a video call to her mother who was in the room with her son-in-law. However, the flood currents were too fast and immediately wiped out the church and the house where his mother lived. The SAR team apparently came to Hutanabolon in search of victims of flash floods and landslides on Saturday (29/11) and Sunday (30/11). But until now they have not conducted any more searches. Betty admitted that every day she searched for her mother’s whereabouts by walking along the river. However, until the 18th day, there were no results. “But we go there every day in search of mamak, along the river, and rely on our eyes and nose to see if there is the smell of dead bodies,” said Betty.
