Jakarta – The theft took place at a padel sports field in the TB Simatupang area, South Jakarta (Jaksel). The suspect managed to steal a padel racket from one of the players. The theft incident went viral on social media, as seen by detikcom, Thursday (11/12/2025). It appears that the offender initially came alone wearing black clothes and carrying a bag. Before acting, the perpetrator appeared to be distracted and paying attention to the situation around him. He was also sitting near the racket he was targeting. Scroll TO CONTINUE CONTENT The offender then stepped up and took a padel racket. The offender put the racket in his pocket and immediately left the place. As confirmed separately, Pasar Minggu Police Chief Commissioner Anggiat Sinambela confirmed the theft incident. He said the theft took place last Friday (5/12). “Yes, that’s right. I was there, it seems that the theft did happen, on Friday the 5th, but he reported it to the Police. The report was the same day, right after the incident,” Anggiat said upon confirmation, Thursday (12/11). Anggiat said, from the information from the field management, the offender at that time pretended to be someone who wanted to play padel. However, the perpetrator apparently acted by stealing padel rackets when the situation felt safe. “After the opportunity came earlier, the person playing might have been tired and put down his racket. If he had the opportunity to take it, he took it,” explains Anggiat. The perpetrator has now been arrested by the South Jakarta Metro Police’s Crime Investigation Unit. From the results of the initial investigation, the offender admitted that he had acted three times. “He was arrested by the South Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Team yesterday. The information was that he was arrested three times, but he moved to Central Jakarta, East Jakarta,” he added. (wnv/wnv)
