Jakarta – A video shows the actions of a debt collector or eagle eye (matel) abusing a man in Sukmajaya, Depok, West Java. The victim was assaulted by the offender because he was in arrears with his motorbike payment. From the video circulating on social media on Thursday (11/12/2025), it can be seen that the victim was surrounded by three people. The offender was seen talking loudly while pushing the victim’s shoulder. “Wow, it’s rude to play with your hands. Bang, it’s matel, Bang,” says the videographer. Scroll TO CONTINUE “No, rude, I don’t like it,” the videographer said again. “What?” the offender said as he tried to snatch the video recorder’s cell phone. Head of Public Relations for the Depok Metro Police, AKP Made Budi, said the incident took place on Tuesday (9/12) in Sukamajaya, Depok. The victim made a police report. “We are still trying to investigate the perpetrators today. We are investigating, the victim made a report to the Sukmajaya Police,” Made told journalists on Thursday (11/12). Made said that as a result of the abuse, the victim suffered injuries to his arms, bruises to his body and head because the perpetrator struck him. “Regarding the case of yesterday’s beating by Matel, there was a wound on the right arm, and another felt a bruise on the head because he was beaten,” he said. Trigger of the abuse Made said the trigger for the abuse was because the victim was late paying for his motorcycle. The offenders stopped the victim when they saw the number plate and tried to chase the victim. “The first information we received was obviously related to payment or the problem of late payments on the victim’s motorcycle,” he said. “Mainly related to the problem of outstanding payments, Matel and his friends saw the victim’s number plate and at that point immediately chased the victim’s motorcycle,” he said. The case is currently still being investigated by the police to track down the perpetrator. The case was handled by the Sukmajaya police. (lir/lir)
