Guwahati, November 26 (IANS). South Africa lost the second Test match against India at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium by a margin of 408 runs. Rishabh Pant lost his first series as captain. Pant believes that Indian players need to improve as a team. After losing the series, Rishabh Pant said, “This defeat is disappointing. We have to improve as a team. You have to give credit to the opposition team for playing better cricket than us. You know, in a series like this, if you think too much, you have to learn and survive as a team.” Pant admitted that the visiting team had done brilliantly in the series. “South Africa definitely dominated the series, but you can’t take cricket lightly. We will be better in the future and learn from this,” he said. He said: “There are moments like that in the game when you have to take advantage as a team, as a batting unit, but as a team we couldn’t take advantage of that for a long time. That’s why we lost the whole series. I think the positive thing will be that we will focus on our plan, and we have to get better at it.” In this match played in Guwahati, South Africa scored 489 runs in the first innings. In this innings, Senuran Muthusamy scored 109 runs, while Marco Jansen added 93 runs to the team’s account. Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets from India’s side. In response, Team India were reduced to just 201 runs in their first innings. This gave South Africa a lead of 288 runs and declared its second innings on the score of 260/5, giving India a target of 549 runs to win, but Team India could only score 140 runs in the second innings. –IANS RSG Share this story Tags
