Patna, October 12 (IANS). The Jiradei meeting of the Siwan district Bihar gave the country a big man like the first president of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Jiradei, a small town in the Siwan district, where Dr. Prasad was born on December 3, 1884. He was also the elected president of the Constitutional Assembly in 1946, and even today Jiradei’s name is taken by national pride. Another famous name associated with this country is Mithilesh Kumar Srivastava, who knows the world as Natwarlal. Interestingly, Dr. Prasad and Natwarlal belong to the middle class Kayastha families. Both studied at the University of Calcutta and practiced the rights, but their roads remained completely different. On the one hand, Dr. Rajendra Prasad contributed to the country’s independence and nation building. At the same time, Natwarlal became notorious for his exploitation of fraud. He became a legend because of incredible incidents such as the sale of the iconic monuments such as the Parliament House, Red Fort and Taj Mahal. Jiradei’s name is also deeply linked to Mohammad Shahabuddin, who once became the face of Bihar’s mix of crime and politics. Shahabuddin won the Jiradei meeting in 1990 and 1995 and later served as MP from Siwan from 1996 to 2009. He emerged as an influential, but controversial leader of RJD during the government of Lalu Prasad Yadav, whose arrest in 2005 was the beginning of the end of his political career. Jiradei meeting constituency, founded in 1957, currently contains blocks of Jiradei, Nautan and Mairwa. This seat is one of the six constituencies of the Siwan Lok Sabha selection division. So far, 17 elections have been held in the meeting in this region, which records a long story of political uphill and downhill. When we look at political history, the congress has won five times here and the last win was in 1985. In addition, independent candidates, Janata Dal, JDU and RJD won the seat twice each, while Swatantra Party, Janata Party, BJP and CPI (ml) won the seat once. Interestingly, in the past two decades, no candidate has won twice in a row, making it clear that Jiradei voters are looking for change in every election. The RJD-led Grand Alliance has won this seat twice. For the first time, JDU victory in 2015 and CPI (ML) candidate was won under this alliance in 2020. It shows that in Jiradei the image and caste comparisons of candidates are more important than political loyalty. According to the data from the Electoral Commission for 2024, the constituency Jiradei meeting has a total population of 4,85,397, including 2,50,685 men and 2,34,712 women. At the same time, the total number of voters is 2,83,758, of which 1,48,271 are men, 1,35,475 women and 12 third gender voters. This seat is a predominantly rural area, where 93.61 percent of the population lives in rural areas and only 6.4 percent living in urban areas. Kayastha, Bhumihar, Yadav and Rajput communities are also considered influential. This mixed social structure makes this seat competitive in every election. -—IANS PSK/ABM
