Crop verification starts from satellite for purchase on MSP in Gujarat, farmers should not get nervous: the government

Gandhinagar, September 17 (IANS). The Gujarat government has launched a satellite image -based crop verification and digital crop recording to make the purchase of Kharif Crops transparent and effective below the minimum support price (MSP) scheme. The first use of this system is done for the purchase of peanuts. The digital survey conducted by the Department of Agriculture found that from 10 percent of the farmers who registered to sell peanuts on the MSP, less than 10 percent of the survey numbers did not sow peanuts. Such farmers were notified by SMS. Dr. Anju Sharma, additional general secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has given information on this that it is not necessary to panic the farmers with these messages. Farmers who have actually sown peanuts in their fields can contact their village servants or township examinations and verify the crop. To provide facilities to farmers, the government has also provided ‘Digital Crop Survey guijarat’ mobile app so that farmers can pick up their crop information themselves. Dr. Sharma informed that the last date for MSP registration for Peanuts, Moon, Urad and soybeans was extended until September 22 to give more and more farmers benefits. According to the data until September 17, 2025, 8.79 Lakh farmers registered for peanuts, 66,000 farmers for soybeans, 5000 farmers for Urad and more than 1100 farmers registered for Moong. Dr Sharma also made it clear that farmers who sowed peanuts do not have to worry, because the purchase will only be made after field verification. The list of such survey numbers was sent to the districts so that the investigation could be completed at the local level. The farmers are given to the farmers how to use the mobile app; The training is given by ‘Out Gujarat Channel’. Farmers are advised to keep the geo-tag photo of their crop as evidence. Dr Sharma reiterated that farmers who actually grow peanuts do not have to panic. Upon completion of the verification, the purchase of their crop on the MSP will be ensured. It is striking that the agricultural sector in Gujarat is 65 percent of the state’s total workforce, and there are 90 lakh farmers and farm workers in the state. The state grows large crops such as fads, maize, paddy, peanuts, cotton, wheat, mustard, cumin and sugarcane in both Kharif and Rabi seasons. -Ians vku/dkp
