Defense Minister Rajnath Singh made a major announcement at an event at the BrahMos Aviation Unit in Lucknow on Saturday (October 18). He said Operation Sindoor proved India’s strength and self-reliance to the whole world. He said that every inch of Pakistan’s land is now within the range of BrahMos missile. Operation Sindoor was just a trailer but it gave a message to the whole world that India has the capability to overcome its enemies. The Defense Minister also said that the BrahMos missile is no longer just a weapon but a symbol of India’s indigenous capabilities and technological prowess. This supersonic missile has become the backbone of the Army, Navy and Air Force. The high speed, accuracy and power of this missile make it one of the best systems in the world. What did Rajnath Singh say about the role of Lucknow? Rajnath Singh also highlighted the role of Lucknow. He said that Lucknow has now become not only a cultural city but also a center of technology and industry. Defense production centers are developing in Uttar Pradesh and the BrahMos missile unit is part of this chain. He informed that this modern facility was inaugurated on May 11, 2025 and in just five months the first shipment of BrahMos missiles will be delivered from Lucknow. He informed that around 100 missile systems will be manufactured in this unit every year. These missiles will be available for the Army, Navy and Air Force. The unit is spread over around 200 acres and costs around ₹ 380 crore. This facility will also provide employment to hundreds of people. Minister of Defense emphasizes safety of spare parts Minister of Defense also emphasized on safety and production of spare parts. He said India will now manufacture essential missile components domestically through all its small and large industries thereby eliminating dependence on any foreign supplier. This will not only boost defense production but will also benefit the country’s economy. He also said that BrahMos is no longer just a “Made in India” slogan but has become a global brand. An export contract was also signed with the Philippines and technological cooperation and investment with other countries is expected to increase in the future. Rajnath Singh placed special responsibility on engineers, technicians and staff and said that maintaining this trust is now their primary responsibility. He explained that BrahMos not only symbolizes the strength of our armed forces but also sends the message that Uttar Pradesh and India are fully prepared to face any challenge be it internal security or external threats. Praising the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on this occasion, Rajnath Singh said that Uttar Pradesh has now reached new heights in the field of self-reliance, security and technological development. The success of BrahMos missile instilled confidence in the citizens and scientists of the country and is a message of independent India for the coming generations. It was also made clear in the program that BrahMos is not only a defense equipment but has also become an important industry promoting education, health and employment opportunities. Its production and export will bring financial benefits to the state and central governments and increase investment in social programmes.
