Overcoming microplastics, DKI DPRD Commission D pursues revision of regional regulations for air pollution

Jakarta – Chairman of Commission D DPRD DKI Jakarta Yuke Yurike responded to BRIN’s findings regarding rainwater in the capital containing microplastics. Yuke is pushing for a review of the Regional Regulations (Perda) on Air Pollution Control to address this problem. “If new regulations are to be made or revisions to regional regulations regarding air quality that require filtration of anything that has the potential to pollute the air, etc., it is also important to regulate Jakarta in the future so that it can breathe more freely and be free from air, water and soil pollution,” Yuke told reporters, Wednesday (22/10/2025). For your information, microplastics in rainwater in the Jakarta area are related to air pollution. BRIN explained that microplastics can be lifted into the air by road dust, burning smoke and industrial activities, and then carried by the wind until it falls back with the rain.
