Pakistan News Desk !!! Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) on Friday promised to strengthen the campaign against terrorists in the light of increasing extremism in the country. According to the news release, the Prime Minister’s office said in a statement that the NSC participants expressed a clear opinion that the national interests of Pakistan would not be compromised and that no one would be allowed to damage national security. The statement said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif chaired the NSC meeting, attended by Army Chiefs, Intelligence Chiefs and Federal Ministers. According to the news release, the meeting took place after the banned Tehreek-E-Taliban (TTP) announced the abolition of the ceasefire with Islamabad and strengthened attacks on security forces, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The statement said that the participants took up the country’s economic and security situation during the meeting. According to Dawn’s report, the National Security Committee (NSC) said on Friday that the terrorists were enemies of Pakistan and decided to respond to those who challenged the country with full violence. The comment was part of a statement issued after the NSC meeting by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO)- the most important decision-making platform for foreign policy and national security- The meeting was held in Islamabad chaired by Premier Shahbaz Sharif, as the country saw a flood of terrorist attacks. During the meeting, heads of intelligence institutions provided detailed information on the law and ordinary situation in the country, recent wave of terrorism and steps to deal with it. According to Dawn’s report, the PMO statement said that Finance Minister Ishaq also informed officials about the economic challenges of Pakistan and the government’s strategies to deal with it.
