Video: In a first, Indian flag raised on Seattle's 605 -feet spatial needle to celebrate the 79th Independence Day
The Indian Tricolor was proudly raised on top of the iconic 605 foot-long spatial needle on the 79th Independence Day of India, which was the first time a flag of a foreign country was raised on this well-known American landmark. Consul -General of India in Seattle Prakash Gupta, except mayor of Seattle Bruce Harrell and other dignitaries of the Seattle City Leadership, were present at the watershed and an important opportunity. Gupta shared a post on X with a video of the tricolor that proudly flew above the iconic Space Needle, with a breathtaking view of Seattle below and wrote: ‘No greater honor than that! Which increased the tiranga above -e -on Seattle Skyline at Space Needle. ‘ The Consulate General of India in Seattle described the event as a ‘historic first in Seattle’, and the celebration emphasized the important contributions of the Indian-American diaspora in shaping the city’s rise as an important technical center in the American Pacific Northwest. After lifting the flag, the consulate presented a community reception in the picturesque Kerry Park, against the backdrop of the Indian flag on top of the Space Needle. According to a press release by the consulate, a large number of Indian American community members gathered to see the important opportunity. The reception was enjoyed by several dignitaries, including US Congressman Adam Smith, Chief Justice of the Washington High Court, Debra Stephens, the Port Commissioner of Seattle, and Superintendent/Director of Seattle Parks and Recreation, AP Diaz. Congressman Adam Smith welcomes the great event as he addressed the event, saying that the elevator of the Indian Tricolor above the Space Needle was a tribute to the region’s diversity and the relationship between India and the northwest of the Pacific. In a significant gesture to commemorate India’s Independence Day in the Great -Sattle area, King County, consisting of 39 cities such as Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma and Bellevue, issued official proclamations that appoint August 15 as India day. Separately, several iconic landmarks across Seattle were relieved in the colors of the Indian flag. It consists of Lumen Field, T-Mobile Park, the Westin Hotel, the Seattle Great Wheel and the Space Needle itself. According to the Consulate, the Indian flag was also ceremonially raised in key places in Tacoma, including Tacoma Dome, Tacoma City Hall and the headquarters of Tacoma police and fire department.
