The Saudi Home Affairs Minister has launched ‘Hackathon’ to develop innovative ideas that solve the problem of traffic congestion in the city of Riyadh, according to Prince Bandar Bin Abdullah Al -Mishari Al Saud, assistant Saudi Minister of Home Affairs for Technical Affairs. In an interview with “Al -Sharq”, he noted that the city of Riyadh jumped to the 30th rank on the (IMD) International Smart Cities index last year from the 55th rank he arranged in 2019, and other cities entered this indicator, namely Jeddah, Makkah Al -Mukarramah and Madinah, and the extent of the great digital transformation reflect kingdom. He pointed out that cooperation between the Ministry of Home Affairs and other government agencies such as the Ministers of Transport and Municipalities has contributed to improving the points by the index, such as reducing crime, management and engineering paths, the control of traffic, reducing congestion and reducing road accidents.
