Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said the world saw the might of the Indian Navy during Operation Sindoor. Addressing the meeting of top naval commanders, Rajnath said Operation Sindoor is a symbol of India’s capabilities and a message to the world that India is always ready to respond to every challenge. During Operation Sindoor, naval forces remained on full alert to attack selected targets at sea and on land, including Karachi. Navy’s power seen in Operation Sindoor: Rajnath Singh Rajnath has described the presence of the Navy in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) as a matter of convenience for the friendly nations and an inconvenience for the forces destabilizing the region. Rajnath said that IOR has become the center of current global politics. Now this area is no longer quiet, but competition and cooperation have increased. Rajnath said that the Navy has multidimensional capabilities due to which it has played a leadership role in the region. Rajnath said that our warships, submarines and naval fighter jets have been deployed at unprecedented levels during the last six months. Apart from this, our Navy has also provided security to 335 merchant ships passing through this area. As a result, about 12 lakh metric tonnes of goods worth 5.6 billion dollars can be moved. This is proof that India is a reliable and capable partner in the global shipping economy. The Defense Minister said that under the Independent India Mission, the Indian Navy has become the leader in the country’s self-reliance, innovation and industrial development. He said that about 67 percent of the Navy’s contracts in the last 10 years were with Indian industries. This proves that we are now not only dependent on imports. He said that the Navy is working on 194 innovative and indigenous projects. He said that up to 75 percent indigenous materials will be used in the construction of Project 17A ships.
