Kemenhut reinforces the national consolidation of mangrove ecosystem rehabilitation

Jakarta – The Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) held a kick -off Mangrove Festival 2025 (Mangrofest 2025) in Alas Purwo National Park, Banyuwangi, East Java (29/7). It is part of the national consolidation of mangrove rehabilitation and commemoration of World Mangrove Day 2025. This 2025 mangrofest increases the theme ‘Celebration Mangrove, Harapan Harapan’ as a form of celebration, reflection and reinforcing cross -sector collaboration in maintaining and restoring Indonesian coast. Implementation of the kick -off of Mangrofest 2025 in Alas Purwo National Park as an early symbol of the national coastal recovery movement. This location has been chosen because it has an important mangrove ecosystem, and is a representation of coastal landscapes to be maintained. The Indonesian government in collaboration with the World Bank started the Mangroves for Coastal Fairness or M4CR project with a mangrove rehabilitation target of 41,000 hectares with more than 80 million tribes,” he said in a written statement Thurs (31/7/2025). Director of Watershed and Forest Rehabilitation Areas (PDASRH), Dyah Murtiningsih, added in his report that Mangrofest 2025 aims to raise public awareness and stakeholders about the importance of mangrove ecosystems. In addition, this activity also shows innovations, local wisdom and best practices of mangrove rehabilitation from different regions, as well as the promotion of cross and crucifixion obligations to protect mangrove forests as a buffer for the future of the coast of Indonesia. Dyah also reported that the kick-off mangrofest 2025 activities combined an educational, participatory and symbolic approaches through a series of activities, including: (1) collaboration actions in planting mangroves; (2) Mangrove Harmony ride using an electric car; (3) Exhibition of mangrove rehabilitation work; (4) Discussion with Mangrove Champion; and (5) natural musical entertainment. One of the highlights of the activity is Mangrove Harmony Ride, which involves the elder’s Electrico Motor Club Electric Motor community. This activity is a form of real commitment to reducing carbon emissions and transitions to environmentally friendly energy. The choice of electric motorcycles not only reinforces the message of mangrove conservation as a buffer for coastal ecosystems, but also expresses the importance of a more clean and sustainable movement of lifestyle and transport. Several stakeholders were attended, including representatives of ministries/institutions, friendly state representatives, local governments, development partners, communities and mangrove activists, local mangrove working groups (KKMD), NGOs, local communities and mangrove real partners. The 2025 Mangrofest series takes place until October, with various interesting occasions, including Media Gathering, Mangrove Art and Music Festival, Mangrove Award Night and Gala Dinner, and the highlight of the Fun Run and Family Walk mangrove event held simultaneously in Riau, Northern Calimantan and Northern Kalimantan. A look at the Mangroves for Coastal Resilience (M4CR) program is a national strategic initiative aimed at overcoming the decline of mangrove ecosystems in Indonesia through large -scale rehabilitation focusing on community -based approaches and environmental sustainability.
