Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto praised the National University of the Republic of Indonesia (UKRI), which now continues to develop rapidly. Prabowo expressed his appreciation to the daily chairman of Gerindra Sufmi Dasco Ahmad who is also the university’s chancellor. This was conveyed by Prabowo when he attended the Open Senate Session, Inauguration of New Students and UKRI 2025 Graduate Graduation held at The Trans Luxury Hotel, West Java on Saturday (18/10/2025). Prabowo said that UKRI now has 7 faculties and 15 study programmes, and that more campuses are being built in various locations. He considered it an extraordinary achievement. “Yes, so today I was present at UKRI’s graduation ceremony. How many did we graduate today? 521 graduates. And UKRI is growing fast, now it has seven faculties, 15 study programs. Campus centers are being built in various places. I think I would like to thank those who now hold UKRI, their achievements are very great,” says Prabowo. At the beginning of his speech, Prabowo explained to students the 3 roles of people, namely as leaders, followers and those who have no role. Prabowo said this third role should be avoided. He asked all students to dare to participate. However, there are times to be a leader or a follower. “This is the third thing you must avoid, you must have the courage to be a good leader or a good follower, but do not neglect to understand your role, and sometimes those roles are different. At different times, there are times when there is a time to be a leader, there are times when a leader becomes a loyal follower. So in every human activity, success and failure are also determined by the leader,” he said. Prabowo then gave an award to Sufmi Dasco as the leader of UKRI. Prabowo assessed that Dasco succeeded in developing the university well. “That is why I must give appreciation to the leadership of Professor Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, he has succeeded in guiding the development of this university well,” he said.
