Bhai Dooj, the festival symbolizing the sacred relationship between brother and sister, is being celebrated with great enthusiasm at the district jail in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday. There are long lines of sisters standing outside the prison this morning. Special arrangements have been made by the District Jail for Bhai Dooj. Once it was time to meet in the jail, the sisters applied tilak on the forehead of their brothers, performed aarti and fed them sweets and wished them long life. Talking to news agency IANS, Jail Superintendent Mijajilal said, “On the occasion of the Bhai Dooj festival, special arrangements were made for the sisters so that they could meet their brothers without any inconvenience. Such an event provides an opportunity to preserve human emotions and family values even in jail.” He told that sisters meet their brothers from seven o’clock in the morning. Many facilities including tilak and refreshments were provided to the sisters in the jail. Special attention is given to ensure that no sister faces any problem in meeting her brother. Keeping security in mind, appropriate police force has been deployed. Soumya Sharma, who came to meet her brother, told that she has only one brother and he is in jail. It has been more than five months since he came to prison. We came to meet our brother to celebrate the festival of Bhai Dooj. Monica, who had come to meet her brother, told that she had come to the jail to celebrate Bhai Dooj. On this festival she wishes that he should be released from prison soon and come home and we live together. Pooja told that she was standing in line to meet her brother.
