Villain Nicolle Briscoe Shifts Show’s Dynamic

The Golden Bachelor season 2 villain Nicolle Kate Briscoe is embracing her villain status, and this signals a shift in the reality dating series for seniors. Nicolle, a 64-year-old yoga instructor from Miami, Florida, has been one of the frontrunners for leading Mel Owens’ heart since the premiere night. Mel, a 66-year-old NFL player-turned-lawyer from Detroit, Michigan, has been captivated by Nicolle since they first met.

However, Nicolle has since become the villain of The Golden Bachelor season 2, upsetting and angering her fellow contestants with her bold, and sometimes even strange, behavior. Despite fan backlash, Nicolle defended her actions in an Instagram post, which is something that hasn’t been seen before during The Golden Bachelor.

Nicolle Has Been An Instigator Since The Golden Bachelor Premiere

Nicolle has been instigating since The Golden Bachelor began. During the premiere, she and Mel made out in the pool in front of everyone. When some of the women confronted her about it, she was unapologetic. Nicolle then rubbed the women the wrong way when she stated that she did not consider herself to be dating Mel, but all of America. She added that she wanted to be an influencer after the show, with a focus on being a spokeswoman for midlife beauty or health products.

In addition, Nicolle insulted the Golden Bachelor season 1 women when she said that they “weren’t so great-looking,” but the season 2 cast could have Housewife status because they were beautiful. Contestant Robin Rocha tried to warn Mel that some of the women didn’t have good intentions, without naming Nicolle, but he told her that he thought that everyone was being genuine.

Nicolle then bizarrely took credit for baking lemon bars for Mel that all of the other women clearly helped make. In fact, she spent time alone in the jacuzzi while they were preparing them. However, she told him that she was the one who made them for him. All of these actions have made Nicolle the Golden Bachelor season 2 villain.

Nicolle Briscoe Defends Her Golden Bachelor Villain Edit

In an Instagram post, Nicole defended herself and embraced her Golden Bachelor villain edit. She posted a photograph of herself in a sweater that said, “NOT SORRY,” with “She Rises and She Glows” by Linhy playing in the background.

Nicolle wrote, “If being honest and speaking your truth means you’re a villain…okay then. If being authentic and telling it like you see it means you’re a villain…fine. If being transparent means you’re a villain…sign me up! Nicolle then stated that it was possible that she could be sincere about finding love with Mel, but also have aspirations for a career after the show. Nicolle’s Attitude Signals A Complete Change From The Golden Bachelor Season 1

Nicolle’s defense of her villain edit signals a complete change from The Golden Bachelor season 1, which didn’t have a true antagonist. Although Theresa Nist and Kathy Swarts had their famous “zip it” conversation, in which Kathy told Theresa to stop boasting about her relationship with Gerry Turner, the women in general became close friends, and they supported each other through their experience.

Nicolle’s Instagram post, in which she refused to take responsibility for any wrongdoing, is reminiscent of the past Bachelor franchise villains. One of the reasons that Golden the series was so refreshing because the women were older and wiser, and they didn’t have any petty arguments or drama.

Nicolle’s attitude is a shift in the spirit of the show. She’s not being authentic or transparent, but rather just plain manipulative and mean a lot of the time. Because of this, the fact that Nicolle is a frontrunner to win Mel’s heart is problematic.

Nicolle’s apology felt forced and fake after her previous post in which she doubled down on her bad behavior.

Nicolle has brought a different vibe to the Golden Bachelorand it feels like a totally different show now. Actually, it feels like a typical old-school Bachelor season, with the disappointing cattiness and poor behavior that fans are so tired of. The shift in focus from inspiration to instigation must end. Nicolle might genuinely believe that she’s doing the right thing, but it’s not coming across that way. Hopefully, she’ll realize the error of her ways.
