The Karnataka government formed a seat on Saturday during the 2023 election to investigate the allegations of large -scale voters ‘names from the voters’ list in the Aland selection division of the Kalburgi district. The step was taken after the claim by Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi in which he said that a large number of voters’ names during the election of the voters in the Aland voter and chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar ‘votes’ removed. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is led by additional director -general of the Police (CID). The SIT also contains two superintendent of officers at police level – Saidulu Adavath and favorable. The incident came to light after Aland Mla Br Patil filed a complaint with the police stating that the names of 6.670 voters were illegally removed from the voters list at 256 polling stations. In a government order, the MLA was quoted that the verification made by the election officials later revealed that applications were submitted to remove the names of 6.018 voters, of which only 24 were valid. The remaining 5.994 applications were allegedly offered using individual cellphone numbers, without the information of the voters involved and with malicious intentions. The SIT acquired the rights of the police station in terms of section 2 (U) of the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023, and was assigned to investigate all the related matters across Karnataka.
