World Para Athletics Championships 2025: Nishad Kumar and Simran won gold medals

New -delhi, October 3 (IANS). Nishad Kumar and Simran won the gold medal on Friday at the World Para Athletics Championships 2025 in Jawhal Lal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. Nishad Kumar won the men’s high jump T47 and Simran won gold in the Women’s 100m T12 event. India moved from 11th to fourth place in the medal table thanks to two gold medals won within a few minutes. Brazil with 12 gold, 18 silver and 7 bronze medals, China is second with 9 gold, 16 silver and 13 bronze medals. Poland is third with 8 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals. Earlier, Preeti Pal won the bronze medal for India in the final of the women’s 200m T-36 event and Pradeep Kumar won another bronze medal in the final of the Men’s Discus Throw F-46 event. India has won a total of 15 medals so far, including 6 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals. Both Nishad Kumar and Simran maintained self -control under pressure and won the hearts of the domestic audience by acting brilliantly. Nishad Kumar won the gold medal by defeating Turki’s Abdullah Ilgaz and the three -defending winner Roderick Townsend (America). He did not leave a single point until he reached the world record height of 2.18 meters and also scored the Asian record after Abdullah Ilgaz scored the European record of 2.08 meters. Nishad Kumar did well by crossing a distance of 2.12 meters and raising pressure on the Turkas athlete after the world record holder crossed only 2.03 meters. 25 -year -old runner -up Simran also performed her personal best. He took 12.08 seconds in the semi -finals on Friday morning.
