Jakarta – North Tapanuli (Taput) Regent Jonius Taripar Parsaoran Hutabarat revealed that 12 villages in two North Tapanuli sub-districts are still completely isolated after being hit by floods. These two sub-districts currently have no road access, electricity or communication. “So in the Parmonangan district there are two places, then in Adiankoting there are also two places. And if you take it down, there are about 12 villages,” Jonius said on Sunday (11/30/2025) at the Disaster Management Coordination Meeting in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra. “Several villages have completely lost contact. There are no roads, the electricity is off, there is no communication. This is our fifth day of working with the TNI and Polri,” he continued. PAGE TO CONTINUE CONTENT The two worst affected sub-districts were Parmonangan and Adiankoting, areas directly bordering the Central Tapanuli Regency. Damage to the link road paralyzed the only access to Central Tapanuli and South Tapanuli. “The only access to Central Tapanuli is from Taput. The only road that has been opened reaches kilometer 30 out of a total of 38 kilometers,” he explained. Jonius also emphasized that the logistical conditions in isolated villages are increasingly critical. Residents can only be reached on foot in eight hours, while land assistance makes it impossible to enter. “Our hope is that assistance for isolated villages will be provided by air. In total there are four points, two in Parmonangan and two in Adiankoting. Collectively it covers about 12 villages,” he said. Meanwhile, he also reported that about 175 houses were lost or seriously damaged, plus 200 other houses were damaged. His party also plans to move residential areas to safer hilly areas. “Current settlement locations are no longer possible. But for resettlement we need regulations because we have to use state forests,” he added. (wnv/wnv)
