Changing lifestyles, constant presence of social media and education workloads have begun to affect today’s young minds more than ever. In many countries, including India, the level of anxiety and stress among Gen Z, especially young people under 25 years of age, has increased rapidly in recent years. In 2023, SRM University AP (Andhra Pradesh), Amravati and several partner institutions conducted a comprehensive study on 1,628 youth from eight major cities of India—Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Delhi. In this study, about 70 percent of the participants had moderate to severe levels of anxiety, 60 percent had depression, and more than 70 percent had high levels of distress. According to the study, the main reasons for increasing anxiety among the youth include ever-increasing competition, career uncertainty, psychological pressure and worry about the future. Social media has given rise to a culture of comparison, where each person looks at the achievements of others and underestimates himself. It turns out to be extremely damaging mentally. In addition, study and work load, family and society’s expectations, and economic pressures also exacerbate anxiety and stress among youth. The study also talked about solutions. It said that psychological support, timely counselling, regular physical activity, proper sleep time, limited use of social media and emotionally open communication with family and friends can help reduce anxiety in youth. Also important is the scientifically proven fact that sharing stress reduces mental burden and puts the mind in a state of relief. Emotional ups and downs are natural at this age, but when anxiety becomes persistent, it is very important to understand it and act in time. –IANS KR/

RBI may maintain repo rate at 5.5 percent in December monetary policy: SBI

New Delhi, September 30 (IANS). Due to the growth rate of the economy being 8.2 per cent in the July-September period of FY 26, RBI may maintain the repo rate at 5.5 per cent in its monetary policy for December. This information was given by SBI Research on Sunday. SBI Research said in its report that a few days ago, the possibility of a 0.25 percent cut in the December monetary policy was raised, but due to the strong GDP figures in the September quarter, this possibility has now reduced. According to the report, central banks around the world are maintaining a stable stance on interest rates. Although decisions to lower interest rates are still taken, their number has significantly reduced compared to earlier. Equity markets globally are performing irrationally, while the Nifty 500 looks in better shape in comparison. The report, released ahead of the Monetary Policy Committee meeting in the first week of December, said the central bank would need to continue to take positive action outside the policy area. Changing market sentiment is also important as the government bond market becomes increasingly disorganized. The spread between the overnight repo rate and 10-year government bond yield widened to 100-110 bp from 40-50 bp. The report went on to say that a “neutral regime” is needed to support broad-based growth without any rate cuts, which will strike a balance by simultaneously targeting yields and liquidity management. The Monetary Policy Committee meeting of RBI will be held on December 3-5. The Indian economy posted a strong growth rate of 8.2 percent in Q2FY26 (July-September period), much higher than the growth rate of 5.6 percent in the same period last fiscal. A statement issued by the government said the reason for the real GDP growth rate exceeding eight percent was the strong performance of the secondary and tertiary sectors. –IANS ABS/ Share this story Tags

After ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, out of compulsion I said ‘yes’ to the wrong role: Richa Chadha

After ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, out of compulsion I said ‘yes’ to the wrong role: Richa Chadha

Mumbai, November 30 (IANS). Actress Richa Chadha recently attended the 15th India Film Project (IFP). During this time he openly shared his struggles there. The actress said the road to success in the entertainment world is never straight and sometimes wrong decisions have to be taken under duress. Sometimes it happens that if the role is good, then you get less money, sometimes the role is good, but the money doesn’t pay well and sometimes if you get a role with your favorite director, then the money is less or you don’t get it, but you feel, you have to work with him.” Richa further said that she is not a star child, maybe that was why it was a little difficult to get the right opportunity, while she had the right opportunity. Said, “This year it’s about 2011-12. When I did ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, I went through a lot of trouble, so a director told me that you played the role of an old woman, no one will cast you, so do it. In this you will have to wear a bikini, you will have to do this, you will have to do this. I said ‘yes’ out of compulsion. This was one of those double entendre joke movies. I don’t want to take the name of the film.” The actress told that she took money in advance from the director for this role, but later someone explained to her that such roles after Wasseypur were not right for her. She said, “I also couldn’t understand the role, so I refused it and also returned her money. That day I understood how powerful it is to say ‘no’. If she had done the film, I might not be here today.” The actress praised Sanjay Leela Bhansali and said, “I find him the funniest and most powerful director, the frames of his films are very beautiful.” Richa told that if you give equal opportunity to everyone in the film industry and they have the ability, then it definitely pays off in the end. –IANS NS/ABM Share this story Tags

The Subang District Government assesses that the agritourism approach can open up new opportunities for the community, ranging from homestays, local culinary delights, agricultural education, to the sale of MSME products. By strengthening regulations of the province and district, the Subang Regency government ensures that the development of these seven agritourism villages will proceed in phases, with adaptation to village readiness and infrastructure support. Apart from the expansion of tourist destinations in Subang, this program also aims to become a model of sustainable town development, based on citizen participation, and the maintenance of local cultural and environmental values. Katib Syuriah Tepis Gus Ipul removed from the post of Secretary General of PBNU

Katib Syuriah Tepis Gus Ipul removed from the post of Secretary General of PBNU

Jakarta – Katib Syuriyah of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Council KH Sarmidi Husna said there will be no removal of Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul from the position of PBNU secretary general. This denial also rejected the decision of the tanfidziyah meeting chaired by general chairman Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya) a few days ago. “It is not true (the removal of Gus Ipul as secretary general of PBNU),” Sarmidi told journalists on Sunday (30/11/2025). As is known, Gus Yahya appointed Amin Said Husni as Secretary General to replace Gus Ipul. In a written statement received on Friday (28/11), the decision on the rotation of a number of important positions within PBNU was made during the PBNU Daily Tanfidziyah meeting held on Friday afternoon. Gus Ipul has now been moved to the position of Chairman of PBNU for Education, Law and Media. Scroll TO CONTINUE CONTENT Amin Said Husni, who is currently Secretary General, previously served as Deputy General Chairman of PBNU for Organization, Cadre Generation and Membership (OKK). The post of Deputy Deputy Commissioner for OKC is now filled by Masyhuri Malik. Rotation also takes place in the position of General Treasurer. The post previously held by Gudfan Arif Ghofur is now filled by Sumantri Suwarno. Meanwhile, Gudfan later became chairman of PBNU for Welfare. “This rotation step, as explained in the minutes of the meeting, was carried out to increase efficiency and organizational performance, and unravel internal bureaucratic blockages, including the problem of many decrees stuck on the secretary-general’s desk that are considered to be hindering the management of the organization,” said a written statement from PBNU. Apart from that, PBNU transferred the minutes of the meeting and also emphasized that the rotation of posts was carried out in accordance with the provisions of Article 94 of the NU By-Laws (ART) as well as Association Regulations Number 10 of 2025 and Number 13 of 2025. The decision to transfer posts was therefore fully made within the TanziPByah Executive Council. Apart from that, the meeting also concluded that it was necessary to refine the draft NU Roadmap 2025-2050, reorganize the use of space in the PBNU building, as well as further discussion of a number of inputs from Rais and the chairman of PWNU throughout Indonesia regarding preparations for Harlah NU. All meeting results will be brought to the Syuriyah and Tanfidziyah daily meetings for further discussion. Syuriya calls Gus Yahya’s dismissal legal Syuriya PBNU previously dismissed Gus Yahya from his position as Ketum. However, Gus Yahya said the dismissal letter was invalid because the documents did not meet administrative requirements. PBNU’s Katib Syuriyah confirmed that the dismissal letter was valid. However, there are technical obstacles associated with applying the stamp. Gus Yahya’s dismissal was stated in letter number 4785/PB.02/A.II.10.01/99/11/2025. The letter was signed by Deputy Rais Aam Afifuddin Muhajir and Katib Ahmad Tajul Mafakhir on November 25, 2025, at 21.22 WIB. “The first thing we need to clarify is that the PBNU circular number 4785/PB.02/A.II.10.01/99/11/2025 signed by Deputy Rais Aam PBNU KH Afifuddin Muhajir and Katib KH Ahmad Tajul Mafakhir is correct and legal,” said Thursday at a press conference in Sarmidi Husna in the Senaya. (27/11). Sarmidi said the decision letter was not stamped due to technical problems, so what was distributed to the public was a letter with the word ‘draft’ still written on it. “It’s just that there are technical problems, Mas Nur Hidayat will explain later, so the letter cannot be digitally stamped with Digdaya. That is why what is being distributed is a letter on which another draft is written. In fact, the letter is true and valid,” he stressed. (whn/knv)
