Electricity department officials on Saturday disconnected the connections of both the Gangajal plants due to non-payment of dues. Connections were connected after two hours of complaints. According to Jal Nigam, Noida Authority and Municipal Corporation has a long standing outstanding of around Rs 80 crore for water supply. Due to non-availability of this, the outstanding electricity bill is also not deposited. The electricity department owes about Rs 3 crore on both the plants. Water supply was affected in the evening. Jal Nigam officials said that the team that came to recover the dues around 1 pm on Saturday afternoon disconnected the connection. As a result, the plants came to a standstill. Around 3 o’clock the workers arrived again and connected the connections, after which the plants started working. During this period, Ganga water supply may reduce in the evening. Jal Nigam Executive Engineer Brahmanand said that the bill will be deposited after receiving the dues from the Municipal Corporation and Noida Authority. Discussions were held with officials from the Department of Electricity. Chief Engineer of Energy Corporation Pawan Aggarwal said that Jal Nigam has been asked to pay the dues soon.
