Jakarta – Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono visited the Medan 2 Junior High School (SRMP) located in Sentra Bahagia Medan, North Sumatra on Tuesday (2/12/2025). In addition to checking facilities and infrastructure, Agus Jabo also increased the enthusiasm of the students. When he arrived at the place, Agus Jabo was immediately greeted by the head of Medan SRMP 2 Maragoti Siregar, the head of Medan Bahagia Center Teguh Supriyono, the head of Insyaf Langgeng Setiawan Center, together with teachers and teaching staff. After talking for a moment, Agus Jabo then inspected a number of school facilities, from classrooms, teachers’ rooms, dormitories, to the dining room to ensure that all facilities are working well and students are in a comfortable environment. He then talked for a while to ensure that their basic needs were properly met, including getting three meals a day and snacks twice a day. “If you’re not full enough, report it to your foster carer,” he said, greeted by nods from the students. A total of 100 students study at SRMP 2 Medan with 44 educational staff consisting of teachers, foster carers, boarders, administrative staff, cleaning staff, security staff and cooks. They are children from disadvantaged families included in deciles 1 and 2 of DTSEN. After lunch, the warm dialogue between Agus Jabo and the students continued. In front of the students, he emphasized the importance of obedience to the principal and the harmony of the teaching staff so that the learning atmosphere is conducive. “Principal Mr. Siregar, yes, everyone must obey Mr. Siregar. If there is a problem, discuss it. I advise the staff, teachers, because the students’ backgrounds are different, you must be united, you must get along,” he said. The atmosphere became even more lively when a grade 7 student named Ismail came forward and sang a rhyme. “The shark has been dumped, I love you sir,” he said, greeted by laughter and applause. Ismail then sang the song “Battle Training Command” with such confidence that Agus Jabo was stunned. “You are really special!” praised Agus Jabo as he gave Ismail a thumbs up. Agus Jabo emphasized that People’s School students must grow into self-confident children. “We must be bold in good things. Don’t be humble,” he said. Agus Jabo concluded the dialogue with an enthusiastic message, encouraging children to achieve their dreams, respect teachers and love their parents. “Later, God willing, you will come here again. Hopefully you will be in grade 8, grade 9 and will continue to study well here,” he said. Before saying goodbye, the students sang “Thank you dad, we say thank you” as they clapped to end Agus Jabo’s visit.
