A big change is about to come in the field of health facilities in Madhya Pradesh. Hi-tech technology of robotic surgery, which was so far limited only to large private hospitals, will now be available in government hospitals as well. It will revolutionize the treatment of complex diseases. According to Madhya Pradesh Medical Education Department, a state-of-the-art robotic surgery unit is being built in the Bhopal-based Gandhi Medical College (GMC) for the treatment of kidney and urology-related diseases. With this unit, patients will get the facility of complex operations. Remove Advertisement Only Read News Treatment time will be halved. It is claimed that this will halve the treatment time and double the success rate of surgery. This unit, to be built in the old trauma block of GMC, will become a hub for robotic training, research and resolution of complex cases of uro-oncology (cancer). Professor Dr. Saurabh Jain says that robotic surgery is the safest technology and it is the future. Robotic system will also be implemented in Urology department. On the other hand, Urology Department of AIIMS is also going to install ‘Da Vinci Robotic System’ soon. This system will be one of the select government institutions in India where this renowned technology is available. The da Vinci robot’s camera is 10 times more sensitive than the human eye, showing the operation in 3-D high-definition. The doctor can clearly see very fine veins and even deep tumors. The Department of Urology says that with the robotic system, the patient will not need a large incision, blood flow will be less and recovery will be three to four times faster. With the advent of this technology, patients will no longer have to depend on Delhi, Mumbai or expensive private hospitals for kidney tumors, cancer, transplants and complex prostate surgeries. With robotic assistance, doctors can make movements of less than one millimeter, eliminating the possibility of errors.
