East Aceh – East Aceh Regency is one of the areas that suffered severe damage after being hit by floods and landslides. Government officials there were paralyzed, which made aid deliveries difficult. East Aceh regent, Iskandar Usman Al-Farlaky, the distribution of aid to various sub-districts had to be done by air because access was cut off. He also revealed that a number of residents were beginning to starve. “There are areas where we need to distribute aid by air, especially in Lokop, Peunaron and Simpang Jernih sub-districts. Previously, we were able to enter several isolated villages to distribute food aid because people in the interior are starving,” Iskandar said as reported by detikSumut, Monday (1/12/2025). According to him, access to transport in East Aceh has been completely cut off so that logistics distribution is having problems. “We have to keep moving even with all the existing restrictions. We have to move,” he said. Iskandar admitted he does not yet know the exact number of disaster victims there because communication access is still limited.
