#Belly #dance, also referred to as #Arabic #dance (Arabic: #رقص شرقي‎, translit. Raqs sharqi‎, literally: #oriental #dancing), is an #Arab expressive dance which originated in #Egypt and that emphasizes complex movements of the torso.
It has evolved to take many different forms depending on the country and region, both in costume and dance style.
Working in Cairo are some of the most famous bellydancers, costume designers, and talented musicians.
The modern Egyptian belly dance style (and the modern costume) are often said to have originated at Cairo’s Night Clubs and then to Egyptian Cinema since more than a century. Many of the local dancers went on to appear in Egyptian films and had a great influence on the development of the Egyptian style and gained huge fame like Samia Gamal and Taheyya Kariokka who both helped attract the eyes to Egyptian style world wide.
Egyptian belly dance is noted for its controlled, precise movements. Terms that are often used to describe the Egyptian style of dance is solo, elegant, smooth, internalized movement, controlled, flows, graceful, full of emotion.

  26. #Orientalischer #Tanz, im Volksmund auch bekannt als Bauchtanz, ist ein meist von Frauen in speziellen Kostümen zu orientalischer Musik ausgeführter Tanz.
    In der arabischen Welt wird der Tanz Raqs Sharqi / رقص شرقي / raqṣ šarqī genannt. Aufgrund der wörtlichen Übersetzung „Tanz des Ostens“, ist die deutsche Bezeichnung „Orientalischer Tanz“ korrekt, bezieht sich jedoch nicht auf die Gesamtheit aller orientalischen Folkloretänze, sondern nur auf den ägyptischen Solotanz.

  28. La #danse #orientale, est une danse d'origine égyptienne (Maghreb, Proche-Orient) qui comprend de nombreux styles. Le style majeur "Raqs Sharqi" s'est développé en Occident à partir des années 90 et connaît un succès fulgurant.
    A l'origine, la danse orientale est une danse spontanée et improvisée, mais elle est aujourd’hui enseignée de manière académique partout dans le monde.
