BNPB corrects data on Sumatran disaster victims: 921 people dead, 392 missing

Jakarta – Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lt. Gen. Suharyanto updated data on disaster victims in Sumatra. He relayed the latest data developments, as many as 921 people have died today. Suharyanto reported this directly to President Prabowo Subianto during a meeting to speed up disaster management in Sumatra, Sunday (7/12/2025). The coordination meeting was held at Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Base, Aceh Besar, Aceh. “Allow us to submit today’s report, Mr. President, for today’s death toll 921 people, 392 people missing, 975 thousand people displaced,” said Suharyanto. It is hoped that it will be operational within a week so that the next bridge will start opening,” said Prabowo, opening the meeting. Prabowo admitted he had received reports that conditions in the disaster area were still worrying. He urged a number of parties to pay special attention to dealing with disasters. “Then I got a report that the conditions are quite alarming. Many of the rice fields are also damaged. Are there farmers here? Irrigation is very important. Then the governor and Bulati reported that there is quite a lot of housing that we had to help rebuild,” he said.
