A sensation spread in the entire area when the decomposed body of an unidentified woman was found in a bag in the Budhi Gandak river near Saraiya village Veerpur police station area on Wednesday afternoon. When they saw the strong foul smell suddenly rising from the river bank, when the local people went closer and looked, they saw the bag floating in the river. When the bag was pulled out, a highly decomposed body of a 35-year-old woman was found inside. Due to the age of the body, identification was not possible. As soon as the information about the incident spread, a large number of people from nearby villages including Muzaffar, Dihpar, Malah Dih, Bhavanandpur gathered at the spot. Because of the crowd, there was a situation of chaos on the river bank. According to the villagers, the body appears to be at least 10 days old. Seeing the plight of the body and the condition of the body sealed in a bag deepened the suspicion among the common people that the woman may have been killed in another place and the body may have been thrown into the river so that it could not be identified. As soon as the information was received Ravindra Kumar, head of the Veerpur police station, reached the spot with the police force and took the body out of the river. After this, he was sent to Sadar Hospital, Begusarai for post-mortem. The police station chief said the body has not yet been identified. The cause of death will only be clear after the post-mortem examination. He said the police are investigating the case from every angle. Police forces including SI Jitendra Kumar, Rakesh Kumar were deployed at the spot to control the crowd and preserve evidence. The police have started questioning people nearby and any missing cases of women that have been registered lately are being investigated by linking them to this incident. On the other hand, various kinds of discussions are going on among the villagers. Some people said in hushed tones that it was the result of a planned murder, while some claimed that a day before, a body of a girl was also seen floating in the same river, deepening the mystery in the case. However, the police have not officially confirmed these allegations. Currently, there is an atmosphere of fear and insecurity in the area. Local people say until the dead body is identified and the truth is revealed, there will be unrest in the area. The police appealed to the people to avoid spreading rumors and cooperate in the investigation.
