Drone survey started at the behest of the chief minister against illegal mining, responsible officials held their breath

A drone survey was started on Tuesday to get an accurate estimate of the extent of illegal mining in the Ganga Sarovar catchment in Kolayat area. After Rajasthan Patrika exposed the mafia’s large-scale mining operations, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma immediately ordered an investigation using the latest technology. As a result, the Mines Division sent a high-level joint team of Geology and Mines Branch to the site. Senior officer of the team, the drone survey was conducted by Superintendent Mining Engineer NK Bairavaa lei. The team includes Dheeraj Panwar (Mining Engineer), Manohar Singh Rathore (Senior Geologist), Karanveer Singh (Senior Geologist) and drone technical expert. The depth, extent and amount of illegal mining in approximately 70-75 hectares of the catchment area will be accurately estimated. There is a plan to complete the survey within 3-4 days. Following the special report titled “Ganga Sarovar heart broken: Mafia looted, royalty worth Rs 1900 crore lost” published in the magazine’s November 20 issue, the Chief Minister’s office has sought a detailed report. Bikaner mining engineer Mahesh Prakash Purohit has been suspended after prima facie confirmation of large-scale illegal mining.
