The statistics of accidents on the Kankhal-Laksar route are constantly frightening. On this road, which runs red with the blood of pedestrians, an average of five people lose their lives every month in road accidents, but concrete steps to improve the situation have not moved beyond paper. Remove ads, just read the news. Recently, after the death of three pedestrians, including two real brothers, within 24 hours, the system definitely took a dig, the opportunity was investigated, concrete steps were considered on paper, after this, the lives of the pedestrians were left to the mercy of God. Dense population on both sides of the road. Schools, hospitals and dense population start on both sides of Kankhal on Laksar road. From Jagjitpur, Ajitpur, Missarpur, Jiyapota to Ferupur, Dhanpura, Dharta, Badshahpur, Sultanpur, there is a roadside village within a radius of every five kilometers. But the width of the route is limited. The problem is that the movement of heavy vehicles on this route is constantly increasing. This is the reason why vehicles related to mining and crushers often turn out to be a disaster for two-wheelers. If we look at the accident statistics, every month at least five people become victims of untimely death in accidents on the Kankhal-Laksar road. The situation worsened due to the death of two real brothers. A week ago, the situation became more dire when two real brothers from Katarpur and a tent businessman from Jwalapur died on the same day. On the instructions of the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police, a joint team of the Department of Police, Administration and Public Works conducted an on-the-spot inspection of Laksar Road and investigated the causes of the accidents. During spot inspection, it was found that along with narrow road, pressure of heavy vehicles, blind turns, illegal cutting, inadequate indicators, lack of street lights and random encroachment remain the main reasons for accidents. During the inspection, various measures were considered, such as banning the movement of heavy vehicles during the day, widening the road on both sides, closing illegal cuts, installing speed breakers and signals. However, the final decision on all these proposals must be taken by the Road Safety Committee headed by the district magistrate. The committee meeting and concrete decision are still awaited. This is the reason why the situation remains the same on the route where thousands of vehicles pass by every day and the danger of a new accident arises every day. People said, when will the danger of accidents stop? Dr Shiv Kumar Chauhan, resident of Misrapur, Sunil Kashyap, resident of Ferrupur, Ilyas Malik of Dhanpura say every time there is a major accident, inspection and meeting is held. After a few days everything is stopped. Despite so many accidents, passengers, school children and two-wheelers take risks on the Laksar route. Despite the increasing number of accidents, it raises questions about the administrative system not starting the improvement work.
