Flight operations at the Patna airport were affected for several hours on Friday. Eight pairs of Indigo Airlines flights were canceled due to operational reasons, disrupting the plans of a large number of passengers. The canceled IndiGo flights include 6E 6387/2163 to and from Delhi, 6E 713/663 to Kolkata, 6E 6643/6644 to Delhi, 6E 6451/6452 to Bengaluru, 6E 915/6683 to and from Hyder 5 and 6E50. SpiceJet passengers received refund and booking assistance on the next available flight by the airline. 21 flights arrived and departed late. Along with flight cancellations, the problem of delays continued throughout the day. On Friday, 15 outbound flights and six inbound flights were delayed from their scheduled time. The lag period recorded varied from 15 minutes to one hour. The delay caused passengers to spend more time in waiting rooms and many passengers’ connecting flights and onward journeys were also affected. Airport management is working to normalize the situation. Airport officials said the main reason for the cancellation and delay of flights is the operational challenges faced by the airlines. The airport management is constantly coordinating with the airlines to normalize the situation. The airport administration has requested the passengers to check the updated status of their flight before travelling, and to reach the airport on time, so that any kind of inconvenience can be avoided.
