New Delhi, November 29 (IANS). Union Minister Kiren Rijiju met Manu Bhaker at his residence on Saturday. He shared the joy of meeting Mun Bhakar, who won two medals in the Paris Olympics. Kiren Rijiju wrote on social media platform that 22-year-old Manu, who missed out on winning a medal in the Tokyo Olympics due to a pistol error, has created history in the 2024 Olympics held in Paris. Manu won not one but two medals. She is the first Indian to win two medals in the same Olympics. Manu won her first medal in the women’s 10m air pistol at the Paris Olympics. Manu won the bronze medal. After this he along with Sarabjot Singh won the bronze medal in the 10 meter air pistol mixed team event. She finished fourth in the women’s 25-meter pistol event, missing out on her third medal. Manu was initially tied for third place with former world record holder Veronika Major of Hungary, but after losing two points in the shootout, the Hungarian player finished third. At the recently concluded ISSF World Championships in Cairo, she missed out on a medal. She scored a confident 586 in the rapid fire round and easily made the top eight. But in the final, Isha Singh and France’s Mathilde Lamolay advanced with perfect fives, while she lost by just two strokes in the shoot-out.
