Ministry of Social Affairs Public kitchen produces 164 thousand servings of food in 3 Sumatra provinces

Jakarta – The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) continues to coordinate with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to strengthen the rapid response to flood management in Aceh, North Sumatra (North Sumatra) and West Sumatra (Sumbar) by establishing dozens of public kitchens (DU). Currently, dozens of public kitchens established by the Ministry of Social Affairs produce 164,588 servings of ready-to-eat food per day. The Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos), Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) said that all these emergency steps were carried out through integrated work across institutions. “The Ministry of Social Affairs is working with BNPB, TNI, Polri, BPBD, regional governments, as well as volunteers. Public kitchens have been opened in several places so that affected communities can receive immediate assistance,” says Gus Ipul, in his statement, Saturday (6/12/2025). SCROLL TO CONTINUE CONTENT Gus Ipul also emphasized that public kitchens are one of the main tools of the Ministry of Social Affairs to ensure that affected residents do not lack food intake. “We ensure that no area is left alone. Public kitchens provide ready-to-eat food, while basic food assistance reaches remote points. Cooperation is key so that everything can be dealt with quickly,” he stressed. The following is a list of public kitchens built by the Ministry of Social Affairs in 3 provinces. Aceh is the region with the most widespread impact and therefore requires the largest public kitchen. A total of 17 Public Kitchen Points operate in seven districts/cities: 1. Pidie District – 35,592 servings/day. Four Public Kitchen Points: • Pu’uk Village, Kembang Tanjong – 2,040 people • Dayah Village, Mutiara – 5,033 people • Jojo Village, Mutiara Timur – 3,770 people • Blang Pandak Village, Tangse – 1,021 people 2. Pidie Jaya Regency – Five public kitchens 35.32 servings. 3. Bireuen Regency – Two public kitchens 4,000 servings/day. 4. Aceh Tamiang Regency – One public kitchen for 6,000 servings/day. 5. Langsa City – One public kitchen for 4,000 servings/day. 6. Subulussalam City – One public kitchen for 15,000 servings/day. 7. Southeast Aceh Regency – Six public kitchens 9,000 servings/day. Apart from public kitchens, basic food packages were also provided for East Aceh: 2,000 packages and North Aceh: 1,000 packages. West Sumatra: 34,254 servings/day Public kitchens in West Sumatra are spread across three districts with high needs: 1. West Pasaman – 2,700 servings/day. But it was closed on 29 Nov 2025 because there were no more refugees. 2. Padang Pariaman – 22,095 servings/day. 3. Agam Regency – Five public kitchens 9,459 servings/day. North Sumatra: 21,110 servings/day. Public kitchens in North Sumatra are spread over three districts with high needs: 1. Langkat Regency – Five public kitchens with 8,150 servings/day. 2. Mandailing Natal Regency – One public kitchen point 3,960 portions/day. 3. Sibolga City – One public kitchen point 9,000 servings/day. (acd/ega)
