Mumbai, December 1 (IANS). The Kandivali Unit of the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a couple on charges of drug smuggling. The Crime Branch recovered 500 grams of heroin from them, the value of which in the international market is said to be around Rs 2 crore. The crime branch officer said that he received secret information that two people were going to supply drugs in Kandivali area. After this, the police laid a trap to nab the accused. After some time, the police saw two suspects, including a woman. The crime branch caught them. After this they arrested him and searched him. During this time heroin was recovered from them. Both were arrested. Crime Branch official said that the arrested accused are residents of Mira Road area. He said that the accused husband and wife made drugs at home and then supplied them. Crime Branch said a case has been registered against both of them under the NDPS Act and they have been arrested. After their arrest, both were produced in court, which sent them to police custody for four days. The crime branch is now working to find out who they are supplying the drugs to and where they are bringing them from. A similar case also came to light from Gujarat. Ahmedabad City Crime Branch arrested a husband and wife from Vadaj and seized Mephedrone worth Rs 35.77 lakh. Officials said that the crime branch received concrete information that Kamlesh Bishnoi, a resident of Rajasthan, and his wife Rajeshwari, who lived in Khat Colony near Akhbar Nagar Circle in Vadaj, were collecting and distributing drugs from their house. –IANS AMT/VC Share this story Tags
