My career is limited to one format: Virat Kohli

Ranchi, November 30 (IANS). The Indian cricket team had to face a 0-2 defeat in the test series against South Africa. After this defeat, discussions started about Virat Kohli’s return to the Test format. After Virat’s century in Ranchi ODI, the discussion about his Test comeback started with more force, but Virat put an end to these discussions. Virat Kohli made it clear during the presentation after Ranchi ODI that his international career is now limited to just one format, ODI, and nothing else. When Virat was asked if his intention was to play only in ODIs, he said: “Yes, and it will always be like that. I only play one kind of game.” Kohli explained, “When you’ve played 300 matches, you know when the physical ability to bat for a long time comes into play. As long as you’re hitting the ball well, it’s about being physically fit, mentally prepared and excited.” Kohli’s statement made it clear that his focus is on the ODI World Cup 2027. Virat played an innings of 135 runs in 120 balls in Ranchi ODI. It was Virat’s 52nd ODI. Virat hit 7 sixes and 11 fours in this innings and played a vital role in helping India win the match by 17 runs. He was selected as Player of the Match for his excellent century innings. Talking about the match, the Indian team, who came to bat first, scored 349 runs for 8 wickets in 50 overs. Besides Virat Kohli’s 135, Rohit Sharma scored 57 and captain KL Rahul 60. Ravindra Jadeja scored 32 runs. South Africa, despite Matthew Britzke’s 72 runs, Marco Jansen’s 70 runs with the help of 3 sixes and 8 fours in 39 balls and Corbin Bosh’s 67 runs with the help of sixes and 5 fours in 51 balls, were reduced to 332 runs in 49.2 innings and lost the match by 17 runs. –IANS PAK Share this story Tags
