Bogor – An object believed to be a mangosteen grenade was found by a group of teenagers looking for shellfish in the river in Babakan Village, Parung District, Bogor Regency, West Java (West Java). The grenade was found at the bottom of the river after being caught in a net. “Three teenagers who were looking for river shells accidentally found an object believed to be a ‘mangosteen’ type grenade from Korea,” said Maman Firmansyah, Chief Commissioner of the Parung Police on Sunday (30/11/2025). Maman said the object was found this afternoon at 11:00 WIB. The mangosteen grenades were found by three teenagers who were looking for river shells near the Sikabayan Parung lock gate. Scroll TO CONTINUE CONTENT “The three children, who are junior high school students, found the grenade when the plastic scoop tool they were using stuck on a hard object at the bottom of the river. After lifting it to the surface, they discovered that the object was a grenade,” he said. Firmansyah said that the TNI and Polri immediately went to the spot to check reports of objects suspected to be grenades. The TNI Equipment Detachment (Denpal) team was also brought to the location to secure the suspected grenade. “The actions taken were to carry out initial security measures by sealing off the area around the discovery. Collection of witness data, and coordination with the Bogor City Denpal TEAM, for the evacuation process and further handling of the object,” said Firmansyah. (sol/wnv)
