He said that the proposal to install new and stronger fences is under consideration of the Central Government. Work to install new design fencing is expected to begin soon. Chakraborty also said that the situation along the India-Bangladesh border is currently normal and relations between the border security agencies of the two countries are good. Encounter with Bangladeshi smugglers A massive encounter took place between BSF and Bangladeshi smugglers in Nadia district of West Bengal on Saturday night. The smugglers tried to smuggle by attacking the BSF soldiers but the soldiers foiled it. One Bangladeshi smuggler was killed in self-defence while the other smugglers fled back to Bangladesh. Cutters, sharp weapons, 96 bottles of Phensedyl cough syrup and two bottles of strange liquor were recovered from the spot. BSF has lodged an FIR in this case at the local police station. Launch pads of terrorists active towards Pakistan – BSF BSF informed that during Operation Sindoor, many launch pads of terrorists were destroyed in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) but some launch pads are still active. BSF IG Ashok Yadav said that Pakistan’s efforts to infiltrate terrorists are increasing before winter, but Indian security forces are monitoring with modern equipment and the aim is to thwart every attempt. Senior BSF officials said that Pakistan has shifted many launch pads to ‘deep areas’ away from the border. Of these, about 12 launch pads are active around Sialkot and Zafarwal, while about 60 launch pads are operational in other areas. According to officials, there are now no separate organization-based camps for the terrorists, instead they have formed mixed groups.
